Snowdon Skyline: Postponed
Dear APEX Runner,
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and considering the recent government announcement regarding the road map back to normality and its associated timeframes, we have made the decision to postpone the Snowdon Skyline™ event to the backup date of the weekend of 2nd–3rd October.
We also feel that with the ongoing travel restrictions in place, limiting access to Snowdonia and other mountainous regions of the UK, even if the event could go ahead, it is reasonable to allow participants more time to adequately train and prepare for the race throughout summer and early autumn. Past participants will know that the Snowdon SkyRace® is a formidable route, despite its apparent lack of significant distance!

It should be noted that unfortunately, this new date clashes with the Mourne Skyline MTR event (we chose our backup date in the knowledge that their event is usually later in October). We have both liaised with one another and agreed that this year, compromises to the Skyrunner UK & Ireland series were almost inevitable.
Our routes are very different, with their race often being heavily oversubscribed, therefore we do not envisage that hosting our event on the same weekend will detract from their participation levels. I’m sure RD’s throughout the country are hoping for a full return to normality in 2022!
All current Snowdon Skyline™ entrants have now been informed of their refund/race swap choices moving forward.
It’s not all doom and gloom however! The guided Snowdon SkyRace® recce days will now move to the same weekend of Sat/Sun the 3rd–4th July, allowing participants to cover the full route over two days, reducing travel time and costs. Read more and book onto them in the shop HERE.
The Snowdon SkyRace® recce weekend will now also be joined by Merrell athlete and skyrunning superstar Georgia Tindley, who will also be racing the event in October. Read more about Georgia on her brilliant website and blog HERE.
“I love nothing more than being outside - rain or shine, in company or alone, bog or scree - it is where I come alive. Competing gives me the drive to push my body hard; it is through physical exertion that the boundaries between the self and our surroundings begin to blend”. – Georgia Tindley
There are now just over seven months until the second Snowdon Skyline™ weekend kicks off! So, when restrictions ease, it’ll be time to find those climbing legs, toughen up those scrambling hands and get ready for the UK’s most spectacular SkyRace®!
We’re also super stoked to have some very exciting news to share about this event in due course, so keep an eye out for updates...
